When you need a "Strong Shoulder" ...Atlas/Mason Jar

I've dug a pile of these lids, some with the porcelain inserts intact,at most every cellarhole i've hunted but this is the first complete jar i've found. It reads Atlas Strong Shoulder Mason. This was an eyeball find while checking out a new cellarhole site. Just the bottom edge was poking thru the dirt. After two long visits the site didn't give up much but i got a couple cool finds out of it. The shotgun shell sized item reads Shrader Universal Pressure Gauge? Thanks for havin a look. HH,
Jerry

Re: When you need a "Strong Shoulder" ...Atlas/Mason Jar

Saturday I found a "Strong Shoulder" jar just like that. It was in my floorboard and on Sunday one of my sons took a coffee cup from the passenger's seat and set it beside the jar. On the way to church of course they banged together and the jar cracked. I told him I hoped for his sake it wasn't valuable and when I looked it up, his luck held up. :D

Cool jar!

Nice finds Jerry!

I find MOUNTAINS of lids up here, but the jars are mostly in many many pieces.

Nice pressure guage. That is a cool find!

I don't see any snow in the pictures. Please don't tell me it's all gone there! We got a couple inches more last night, couple more today..... The weather shows snow every day this week, right through the weekend. I going into some kind of shock! Swinging coils in the arctic in my dreams!

Best of Luck!

Thanks Mark,we havent had a lot of snow or freezing temps yet so for the time being the ground is still soft and 35 degrees is tolerable. Weather's turning for the worse here today tho with 2-3 inches coming overnight and brutal wind chills. Time for some research :icon_study:
Hang in there buddy, the days are gettin longer and spring'll be here before ya know it!!

My brother (Willybgood) has id'd the key as a radiator key. He used to have this type of heat and recognized it right away.

I agree with jgas! Put some silver in that jar! ;D

Great jar, Jerry! I've found many of those lids, but always wondered what the jar's looked like. Now I know. It's amazing that it was intact!
