Hello everyone!

I went out detecting all day today because I didn't have to work because of the holiday. I dug my oldest dog tag to date ~ it reads, "EUGENE DOG TAX 1928 #312". Also dug a 1949 Uncle Sam play 25c, and a 1953 Uncle Sam play 10c. Here's what else I dug today:

13 wheat cents (1930 to 1957)
1947 nickel
1953 nickel
14 clad quarters
12 clad dimes
10 modern nickels
44 memorial cents

Also, I dug a cool looking old button ~ it's a little bigger than a US nickel. The image is a sideways anchor with a winged staff thingy in the middle ~ it reads, "US" and the initials "M.H.?." ~ I can't make out the last letter in the initials.

The back reads, "OAK HALL CLOTHING CO ~ BOSTON"

How old is this button? What did it come off of?!

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Hey oddcoins, those are some neat finds! I love the old dog tags. I think my oldest one is around that same year. I'll have to dig it out to check.

Keep it up!

I'm heading out tomorrow to a brand new spot that is about an hour and forty minute drive for me, and hundreds of acres. I don't know where to begin, and have no idea what to expect from the hunt, so I'm pretty nervous and anxious tonight. I hope to spend around 4 hours there tomorrow to see if it is worth going back to again after this first hunt.

The button looks to me like the medical staff. I was in the 339th CSH for a while. Just worked with cincars though, no blood for me!

Hey, Neil, congrats on all your finds, especially your oldest dog tag!

I've dug a few of those Uncle Sam play coins too....they really fool you for silver when you see them for the first time in your plug!

Thanks Dan!

Yeah, "WHERE'S THE SILVER" is right! I tried & tried ~ I dug a lot of targets trying to pop out a silver ~ 13 wheats, a couple old nickels, a couple old play coins, but no silver! DANG IT!!!

Oh well ~ I still had a great time!

You didn't have me going ahead of you diggin' out all the trash!!!!
Just kidding Neil. Congrats on some interesting items. The dog license
is something you don't find very often and the play money is really cool.
You must have been close to silver with all the wheats you found.....
Maybe next time. Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:
