Coin question

Hi all,

I was just wondering are Canadian quarters made from silver? I have found three in the last month. I don't see the copper coloring on the edge like on our coins.

Canadian silver stops at 1968 as American silver stops at 1964 due to the rising price of silver. The last two years of Canada's silver coins, 67 and 68 had debased silver and the coins were .500 or half silver. The years from 1858 to 1966 were .800 silver. HH, Mike

Right. And you can tell if a 1968 Canadian Quarter is silver or not if it is attracted to a magnet. The clad 1968's are, the silver 68's arent.

Iv found a few silver canadian coins in change too

Thanks for the info everyone. I wasn't sure due to our coins showing the copper color along the edge. Your info has made me just a little bit smarter and that is always a good thing.

An easy way to scan rolls of dimes/quarters is to just open a roll up and look down the sides of all the change, if a coin is just solid color then its canadian or silver, if its copper/silvery looking then its just clad. Other day i thought i had a silver dime but it was just a canadian one :P
