Found in a grassy area, about an inch and a half down. Thought it was some type of religious jewelry.

Got home and was cleaning it off when the" woman who rules here" told me it was a ring.

She is the good Roman Catholic in the family, (someone is praying for me), and informed me it is what is called a finger rosary ring. Used to say

the rosary,(the ten round ends represent what your doing and you move from one to the next until you do ten), (it's a Roman Catholic thing).

Inscription say "Ave Maria" (Mary), (who was the Mother of the Christ-Child).

Some type of metal, nothing that says it is silver only says" Italy" on the reverse side.

all have a good un.............

Cool find! Alot of silver is made in italy, but if it isnt marked i would say it prolly isnt, but you could test it to be sure :)

Very nice! I used to hunt a house where nuns lived once and found a few Catholic things, but nothing that cool! Looks silver to me!

Nice find Sherman,

I'd bet silver (not all silver & gold is marked- especially "old" foreign pieces)..

I once found a 19.4 gram 22kt gold braclet (7 inches long & 1/4 in. wide) that was from the 1800s and not marked,,

tested 22kt gold, and worth $300.00+ just for the gold weight (sold on ebay for $620.00)!!

Lonewolf,

do not think it is old.

I grew up a Roman Catholic, (about 2,000 years ago), and we had the rosary which is a chain type thing.

Think these have only been around 20-25 years at the most. I did check them out on internet and many religious

sites are selling them.

With the way I hunt and the things I hunt for, a ring, even a common metal ring, is something different for

me. Another one of my "small treasures" ( the woman has other names for them)

have a good un............

maybe there was a reason in finding it. now you have one, might try using it. I found a large medal with the pope on one side and Mary on the other. saved them from the ground about 4" down.

No offence to any religion or anyone who may follow it, but that is the uglyest ring I have ever laid my eyes on!
Most likely Silver if it came from the ground that clean, I would say silver. Check for a PT mark, I doubt it but
could be Platinum.

Strange and ugly but a cool find!

Keep @ it and HH!!
