Just another "One more last chance" property produces a Merc ....

I can't speak for the rest of you but .... I have about 3 or 4 properties in my area from the 1920's that have been hunted to "death" by myself ( & others ) that i just can NOT seem to drive by if I have a few extra minutes to detect. All have been declared "picked clean" by other detectorists I have run into along the way.

I beg to differ ....

10 Minutes to locate about 6-7 inches down ( GOOD JOB ACE 250 !! ) is all it took for me to wish all these "experts" were there to laugh at. :D

Now admittedly, I COULD have spent hours and not found a thing but, for just ONE find ( guess the clad is what has been hunted out ;) ) in the 1/2 hour total, I will take it !! ;D

Oh, my aching legs. Where is my bottle of Aleve ??

Nice Merc!! No place is ever hunted out. Go back there after a heavy rain, and I'll bet you'll find some more!!

Rain .... one of the reasons I even went out today. The digging has been HARD.

Since Katrina clobbered us, we have been drier than the Sahara ..... last couple of days, we have gotten a little presipitation which I figured would help out in locating some deeper targets & make the digging a little less difficult.

Needless to say ( but I am saying it regardless :D ) .... this is one property that will be seeing me again !!

Good deal. To me those finds are the most rewarding. We go to our own hunted out parks and sometimes spend an hour or two and just get clad. Other times first coin silver. We ourselves use to have inferior technology and were "dumb". Now if we search a small area more than twice it's picked. Of coarse there always is that larger coil I can get...hhmmmm.

Even though it looks worn, still looks good. Had a lot of use before its loss. Nice find. Especially when you look at what was going on in the world at that time. WW1

Nice Yankee. From the looks of the coin it seems the grounds were very mineralized. You may have had a better unit than others that could handle reading that coin in those conditions. Or experince helps also.
