Probably would have had a pin on the back and worn as a brooch. They were more royalist in those days.shaun7 said:robfinds said:Think the big round thing may be a furniture/leather decoration. i thought it was cut out from a coin at first, but it looks too big and they probably never made a coin like it

That's a very good buckle Don very ornateDon in SJ said:Rob, thanks for the showing some of the countryside, wish we could see more often photos of the sites hunted "over the pond".
I have a stock buckle, perhaps two, and I believe yours is an earlier one than my one is, not sure about the age of my other one. Not too many ever posted, not sure how common they were here in America, but would think more often found in England.

Rob,
Lacking the extensive history that you have in G.B. we would not see the George V commemorative as "cheap." Our detecting colleagues would be quite excited to pull up a presidential commemorative from that era especially Teddy Roosevelt. I consider that a very nice find. If the George V commemorative had his cousin Tsar Nicholas II instead of his wife I would nominate it for a banner!
Cheers
The lack of branches on that family tree would make them closer to twins than most cousins.robfinds said:They would look like twins !.Excavateur said:robfinds said:Think the big round thing may be a furniture/leather decoration.
