Hi jhenry,

Great token! I don't have a lot of experience cleaning tokens...I've only found one oldie, but it was aluminum like yours appears to be, and had the same brown/black discoloration.

I made a paste out of baking soda and a little water and rubbed it on the token, hard. You'll know right away if its going to work as the baking soda will start looking dirty.

I've heard other folks on this forum say they have luck using a brass bristled brush, but I've never tried it. The baking soda method worked great, and I can't see any evidence of scratching.

Any help on dating this token would be appreciated!

It dates c. 1926-28.

The company was formed in 1926, when Peet Bros. merged with U.S. Palmolive. Two years later, Palmolive-Peet merged with the Colgate Co., forming the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet Co.

very cool token. I've found round ones but I don't think I've found an octagonal one
