Yesterday I went to the site of an old plantation house that the yankees had burned to the ground. I was told by some locals that there was a tree in the woods behind the field with CW soldiers' names carved in it. I hunted the area for a few hours and found 1 CW 3 ringer , a pocket knife , the remains of a watch, an axe head , a small hammer head , various plow points and large iron(stove parts and such), some glass fragments and a 1952 wheat penny.
Here are my finds.
Thanx for lookin and happy hunting y'all

Where there is one bullet, there should be a ton more. Is that plantation near any battlefield, or perhaps a skirmish area :dontknow: I would try and get a little more info on the house, it may help you for future hunts.

General Terry had some 30,000 troops in this region and was headquartered at another plantation a few miles down the road. This was just prior to the Battle of Bentonville and the capture of Goldsboro. The last major battle of the Civil War. Some of Sherman's troops also came through this area on their march to Goldsboro.
