Newbie & I spent 45 minutes on the Roman Site we found early this year (the one with the Celtic Gold Coin). Picked up the usual pottery pieces & did very well for only 45 mins. We were nearby 1 of the land owners house who we had booked in to show our finds to, so decided to have a quick search.

I had 3 Roman Coins (2 good ones)
Roman Lead Dice
Geo I Halfpenny
Roman Bronze Leather Mount (bone shaped) - first of this type for the collection.
Plus a Mystery item :icon_scratch: Its definately Ancient but no idea what it is other than maybe a crude pendant :dontknow:

Newbie nothing :-[ (makes me feel guilty) I hope he gets out more on that field this weekend (without me) as its perfectly flat (drilled & rolled).

Isn't it weird, 'Saxon shield shaped' (not saying Saxon though), with what could be a hole for hanging & 2 holes as eyes with a simple line for a nose :dontknow: Its identical on the reverse. I also though it might be an instrument of some kind, like a plum bob but for pointing/levelling constructions of ??(didn't explain that well but I hope you got the drift) :P

Why would it have three holes for a plum bob?

Thats what I was trying to get you to visualise, not what I think it is. Just something that hung on a string to do a job

the 3 hole thing looks kind of small for a weapon, I think it might be a shuttle for weaving cloth. just my guess though. nice finds as usual.
