Tonights Hunt At The 1850's Fairchild Place, Need Help To ID Relic

Good evening Fellow members,
Got out a little while tonight at the old Fairchild place and went searching the back yard again. So far I have found a nice CW General Officers coat button and an 1863 CW store card (token) Tonight I found what appears to be part of an old lock. After cleaning it it says SAFE and is brass. Any ideas on what it might be :dontknow: Thanks for looking and the help...........Ron

Nice lock slab... if I had to guess I'd place it at 1870-1900, but I could be off on that. Nice pics once again, jarhead!

The "SAFE" script is very unusual for a lock or a safe. I'd say Art Nouveou (sp?) style. Very interesting find.

1 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches. I tried searching under Safe Lock co. and found one but nothing like this one (if it is indeed a lock face) Unique writting
