That is absolutely top-notch stone work. Every stone had to be hand cut and rounded to fit on the spot. You have a great eye for esthetics.

That is some seriously cool stonework. Too bad the house was left for dead. Any good finds?

Looks very similar to the fieldstone work here in W. Carolina.

It would be some work, but if you could clear the land around the house ....might be goodies everywhere.

Awesome old house, kind of reminds me of a church in a way. What were the finds? HH, Mike

Wow that was a nice place. It's a shame that places like that are forgotten and left to fall to the ground.

I think it's a grand old home. Sadly it has fallen into disrepair. Maybe someone could get a flipper loan to remod it :laughing7: Those darn stone mason guilds, they always built things to last for some reason or other.

Did you find any old treasure?

Sadly enough some time ago the area was logged out and the workers either push the dirt up to the house or away from the house. SO no treasure was found

Awesome place! I could only imagine the thrill of finding a place that looks like that in the woods.
If there's nothing laying around in the ground to keep you busy I would be sweeping a coil along the walls and woodwork.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

Looking around in any town, you'll see that this kind of thing has killed about 20 times as many historic sites as metal detecting supposedly has. At least with detectorists, the finds are still in someone's collection and that someone [probably] prizes those objects and knows the location of the finds.

You get somebody into a place with a bulldozer, and they don't care about such details, and it's all gone, forever. :(
