George III 1797 Penny, Halfpenny and Pence!

Have been stuck indoors for far too long!
The clouds cleared away and when I got in the car the sun was actually shining. However, by the time I'd reached the farm; which is only a couple of miles away, the sky had turned black once more and it began to spit with rain. By the time I'd got my boots on and my machine out it began pouring down again! I took shelter in the barn and watched as the road turned into a river and branches were pulled off trees. We don't get many tornadoes in Derbyshire, but I was out in one of them!
I stuck it out for a while; keeping the cows company and when it eventually stopped thought I'd have a quick look round the nearest field before heading home so it wouldn't have been a wasted journey.
Found a few 'New Pence' (£1.01 which I can still spend):

Quite a few Bullets (.303s I think):

More badly-corroded George III,
1797 Penny:

and a 1806 or 07 Halfpenny:

and a few other bits including a 'Mel' or 'Meb' dog collar:


I'll go back when its a bit drier! The fresh air did me good!

Strange....I wonder why and none where I am!

I was told recently that my area was absolutely hammered by detectorists in the early days. I should think them huge coppers
were the first to go!

you might not think much of them, but I sure like it when they show up!
I saw IP get the 2penny last week, it seems that a 1 penny would be hard to lose, those 2 pennies are huge, good luck with that, I'm sure there's one waiting for you out there!

Amazingly a hunting buddy found an 1862 British large cent/penny last weekend at an old park in Northern California (looks just like yours, but it was in nice, albeit worn, condition with a nice green patina.
