Finds from Yesterday's Hunt

KKC got out yesterday to an old standby site. It was the site where we got four Colonial coppers, a Draped Bust cent, the banner 1794 Liberty Cap cent, and 1847 Braided Hair cent over a month ago. I found this 1945 Walker half in the area where we dug the coppers.

I also found a flattened lead piece, which I believe could be a Colonial poker chip. I think I remember someone posting a similar one before. I wouldn't doubt it if there was gambling going on at this Colonial-vanished dwelling. I did find a barrel tap key there last time, so you know he and his buds knew how to have fun...Colonially-speaking. :laughing9:

What a drag... but I can obviously relate! I don't remember a single modern coin from where I dug mine. :-\

At least you got your one last shot.... but no more!

This was the first modern coin from this site as well. That is why my heart is down at my feet now. :laughing9:

I'm not counting on another hunt, but you may never know. Freak temperature cycles can happen just about anywhere, so my fingers are crossed.

At least we got a good rush for a few seconds seeing big silver in the dirt. I like that few second moment more than the coin, but it is finally the half I thought I should have found by now.

I actually enjoyed the rush so much that I decided to not use my pinpointer in the exposed dirt. I savored the moment and was actually grinning in an evil manner. :laughing9: I just knew it was going to be something great. :'(

Kyle , that Walker is such a humiliating disgrace of a find - I think the only path to redemption,
is for you to send it to me , you will of course pay for shipping - Argentium.

depending who you would ask, they would probably say you made a pretty good find, colonially speaking ,I would say you still made a decent find ,but big silver at a old site is disappointinting when it's relatively modern, 4 reales for you next time!!

Some would wonder how one could be dissapointed with a find like this...I would of tried to buy a soda with it.

WOW! What a rotten find. Disgraceful! How can you even keep it? Throw it back and let it age some more!

When looking for old stuff in old spots that Indian cent might turn out to be a '64 Canadian penny or a '44 wheat cent. Maybe that reeded edge dime size token is a clad dime or that shield nickel is a Jefferson! Not that I am speaking from experience. These are, of course, hypothetical situations.

Hey, IP, I beat you with a 1938 Walker from this year. :laughing9: It was found in the area where we got 28 large coppers. :'(

If you're gonna find new silver, it might as well be a half dollar. :)

At least you got out. I was in doors because of the freezing rain. :-[

Cheers,

Buck

That is what I thought after finding it and during the drive home. This is only my third silver half, and two of them were found this year.

I see you getting out quite a few times this January and February, Buck. I wouldn't worry about today's freezing rain too much. I hope you get your 20th!!

Dude Sir,
Way to go on the "modern" big silver. Sorry it wasn't Colonial, but she's a beauty anyways. Stick it in Kirk's Christmas stocking.
Glad to see you gave it one more try buddy. KKC had an outstanding year indeed. :notworthy: :icon_thumleft:
