That's a really nice period pewter counterfeit. Most of the time they are in awful condition.

I have only found one silver dollar counterfeit, but it sure is fun to get one. My counterfeit dollar only has a few bubbles on it. I was convinced that it was real until I heard it hit the counter at the coin shop.

Here in Salt Lake a few years back someone dug almost a whole roll of counterfeit seated halves. There was one missing and another hunter found it a few days later on the lot.

That is awesome!!! I would say that I would rather have the OLD counterfit rather than an original. :icon_pirat:

Very nice find..I found a counterfeit 1831 capped bust half last fall...Mine was nickle instead of lead though.. :icon_thumleft:

But not a lot if you make a 1,000 considering what $500 was worth in the 1800s.

Exactly. 50 cents in your pocket back then was a lot of money.
