set out early am to beat the warm weather and ticks, I knew of an area that had a few unmolested cellar holes, well off the beaten track, don't seem to do as well as you guys on coins around here, I think the early farmers didn't have much to lose
but occasionally mother earth gives up a few decent relics, well today was one of those times, alongside an old. stonewall, I recovered a Mass. Militia hat badge circa 1840, Its stamped brass with traces of the original silver wash, good ones I have seen before sell in the 500- 700 range, this one ain't for sale, also found a very early skeleton key which appears to be bronze. Left my camera in the wife's car, so I'll get up some pics when I can. As usual no coinage despite several hours of tough hunting, I urge anyone in the northeast heading for the woods to take appropriate anti-tick action, those little critters are abundant this spring, good huntin!!

Well done and look forward to seeing the pics :icon_thumleft:. The ticks are out over here as well. I have caught 2 crawling up me and about 6 on my dog. He gets anti-tick treatment and I spray my boots and jeans with Deet, brought back from the States by a friend. Seems to do the trick. I really hate the little B's so when I catch one I give it a Viking funeral ;D.

sack,..then grab 'em with tweezers,..drop 'em in a can,and touch 'em off!
