Charles Jennens - London silver plated eagle button! 1800-1824

Wow! I can't believe in a matter of a few weeks that I got another eagle button after 6+ yrs of detecting and not finding a single one!
A week or so ago I dug two early single piece eagle buttons http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,314811.msg2267517.html#msg2267517 and this evening in a differant field no where near that other field I surprisingly dug a bigger eagle button. Super nice in my book seems how I never find these I almost thought I had a quarter when I seen the size and the silver but quickly found a nice spread eagle How cool is that!?

Can anyone tell me anything about this Charles Jennens eagle button? I quickly found it in a search but I'm not coming up with the history of the button itself, who had worn this type of button?

It's not actually a military button but a livery button from England. Not sure on these but I think they were worn by servants.
Still a cool button though.

I didn't have time to check last night but the Jennens company has been around in one form or another from 1805 to 1924.
It has gone through different names over the years. From what I could find out Charles Jennens dates from about 1807 to 1828. I think your button probably dates from around the 1820's. Some of our British friends could probably tell you a lot more about this type of button though

If the mark doesn't go later, then I would say 1820s. Charles Jennens London I'm pretty sure is considered a post war backmark by 1812 military buttons collectors.

Jennens backmarks can go into the 1900's but I'm pretty sure Charles Jennens is no later than 1828 That year the company was changed to Jos. Jennens and co and from 1829 to 1844 it was Jennens & co
