Medieval Friendship ring

I've been out of the game for many reasons, but a neighbor, here in Italy, cleared some brush, so I gave it a try.

Found this ring, but can't research properly due to losing my DSL from a lightning strike, but I think it's a Medieval copper/bronze friendship ring. You can see two hands shaking in the middle.

That is very cool! I have never seen one quite like it but with the hands shaking it would sure make sense that it was a friendship ring. Congrats!

It's an irish claddagh ring, supposedly it can only be 300 years old or less. Nice find and HH, Mike

The clasped hands has been popular since Roman times & has been used pretty much ever since until today.

Yours I would think is circa 17th Century but could be a little earlier. Its a great find in good nick

That is not a good find it is a great find. Too bad you can't read the inscription. I would be fantastic to know who the friends were.

If it is not worth a lot like it is, I would be tempted to clean it to see the inscription.

Thank you all for your help in IDing this ring. I have only washed the obvious dirt off it so far, so am still not able to see if there is any script, but will give it a go later.... It was surprisingly only at 2-3 inches...I'll be getting back into the hunt again this week, as this certainly is a good start and impetus.

For a short 1/2 hour hunt, I couldn't be more pleased. The land was an old vineyard I think, from the amount of round wire I found, that they used for holding up the posts of the vineyards, which is common around these parts.
