Our little mountain city has long had a reputation as a wealthy resort town, but it takes persistence to find public hunting spots with some older merit. Got into a little public park surrounded with large houses built around the turn of last century. Just a green space, so factor in the 5-year-old's constant reminding, "Dad, I'm not having any fun!"

So, an hour in, sparse signals, six coins including recent stuff... but... was quite satisfied to find this old gal.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to nickel signals, and this one bounced around a bit, but I figured what the heck...

All said, in this short visit I was encouraged that the spot is not hunted out and deserves a closer look.
