First post! This weekend's results (with a little silver)

I got a detector (White's Prizm II) for Father's Day this year, my first one since my old White's Coinmaster II that I had when I was about 14. This weekend was the first real chance that I've had to take it out for a decent amount of time. Everything that has come out of the ground so far has been clad ($2.21), but I'll take it! This afternoon, as I was swinging the detector I noticed a little shiny chain on the ground... yep, 0.925 silver! :icon_thumright: It's a 16" sterling James Avery chain. Looks like it fell off when the clasp got stretched out. Had this been in the ground, I never would have dug it since I had the discrimination set to block out nickel/pulltab/foil. Maybe I should turn the discrimination down :) I'm trying really hard to dig some silver coinage, but I'm pretty darn happy with this. Maybe next time I'll get that silver dime!

Welcome to Tnet, WinstonTX! Hope you find lots more with your new detector!

Regarding the discriminate mode: turn it way down. If you're not find at least some junk, you never know if the detector is working correctly or not.

Welcome to TNET. :hello2: Looks like you had some good finds. Keep at it and the silver will come. It took me almost a year and after the first one they came easier.

Congrats and welcome.

By the way on my Prizm II silver shows up in the penny-dime-quarter range.

Welcome to Treasure Net !!
Suggestion: Rather than 'try real hard' to find silver, just enjoy each moment you are TH-ing; the silver will come soon.
