I was finally able to get out and do a short hunt early this morning in a local field the temp,s drop to 68* after yesterdays heavy rain storms ,my first signal was iron what else is new sure enough it was a rusted old bolt but in the hole near the surface was red round what i thought was red buffalo nickles they was 5 Tiddlywinks :laughing9: covered in dirt strange find in the middle of a field ,then i got some old clad quarters both 1966 >:( just missed it by 1 year ,a nice ear ring i think :icon_scratch: the size of a US dime .925 with the letters JKF old english style and then a deep signal about 8 inches iam not really sure what it is its solid copper open only on 1 end to me it looks like a toy cannon it,s heavy and hollow inside :dontknow: maybe a early auger i have no idea but it had a nice green patina any ideas feel free it say. Good hunting Dd60

Hi DD60, could the "cannon" be a handle from a poker or something like that, because I can't see a touch hole to light the powder. Anyway keep getting those find in :icon_thumleft:.

I think that's one of those dug "make your own cannon" kits, minus a drill bit. ;D

I would say mini checkers, or bingo markers...The cannon thing looks like the handle to an umbrella maybe??? or a cast iron pot or pan???

I agree with the red checkers theory
and I reckon the earring engraving is J.F.K.

I stand to be corrected.
