Next 9 hours @ 1860's house, finally silver, Victorian BLING

So, you may remember my first 5.5 hours at this site had me finding a bunch of wheaties but not silver. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,362890.msg2575805.html#msg2575805 My next 9 hours led to 3 silver coins and a nice cub scout silver ring and even some IH's! So the running tally is 26 wheatires and 3 silver coins, not the best ratio but I'll take it.

What really has impressed me with this site is the number of cool relics I've found including are really nice gold (plated I think) pin with a very large gemstone (glass most likely). I believe it is most likely gold plated pressed brass probably victorian in age. Anyone differ in opinion? It came out of the ground totally brown and just out of habit I cleaned it with aluminum jelly and was totally blow away at the shiny bit of bling I had in my hands. I'm pretty sure it's gold plated, slight possibility that it is a very low karat, like 8k or something.

The sailing ship pin is really awesome too, you can't tell by the picuture very well, but it is totally encase in a solid oval domed piece of clear glass. Really cool!

Then there is the small flower pendant looking thing. I think it is a mosaic of tiny pieces of glass, or perhaps even semi precious stone. The green really looks like jade to me.

I found 3 religious pendants in one hole, two of them were fused together. I didn't realize it until I took a macro picture of it, but the one with a lot of the gold gilt left has a date of 1880 on it, so it's pretty old!

Anyone know if that is some sort of pin fired bullet I found? Any idea on the date or type?

Anyway, so much to talk about, I'll just let you look at the pictures and enjoy.

Jai

Nice finds & thanks for the info on the jelly. I found an old 10 K gold filled ring that needs cleaning & I did not know what to use, I'll try the jelly.

I posted the lost key return tag on the "what is it" section and a member was able to identify the writing, if anyone is interested you can read up on it here:

Thanks all for the feedback, I can say that this has been one of the most productive sites I've visited this year. It amazes me that a rental property still has so many cool items to find. Almost all of these finds were shallow, usually around 3-5 inches. Some of the wheaties, and one of the mercs were within 1" of the surface. I'm going to assume due to some soil disturbance at some point.

I have pulled a ton of trash out of here. I normally detect in all metal mode, but there were so many confounded crown caps that I eventually started detecting with crown caps discriminated out. Worked pretty well.

Are you able to stand up today? That's a lot of good digging!
