Started out the weekend on Saturday with a hunt with Mark,a fellow tnetter from the northern part of the state...we got in about 4 to 5 hours of hunting...Was a fairly slow day at the old Ghost Town..Mark did manage a nice old copper ring, and I recovered an IH and a few Flat Buttons...

Sunday I started a morning hunt with Matt W,another fellow tnetter from the north...I scored early with another IH and shortly there after I unearthed a large silver coin...turns out to be a Louis Philippe I 5 Frank I believe,no year visible yet...
we were joined mid morning by Mark...

We hit several sites...to include a ghost town, oneroom schoolhouse site, and a former homestead, all fields now..

These were the items of interest recovered

Mark

Gold Plated Ring
1 or 2 IH one was a 1865

Some nice digs there guys. Congrats on those coins. Any idea when that style silver Louis coin was minted? Is that an "8" or "S" I see on the back?

Thanks Dave..
The Ghost town site has only given up 1850's to 1860's coins except the French Silver which I believe dates back earlier still, the newer coins were from the other sites hunted...hoping it remains that way ;D

It was a great day, only managed a few bullets, old spoon and an 1892 IH... But it was a great day! Never dreamed I would be out field hunting in January.

Try looking at the ring with a good magnifying glass first to see if u see any details. Its a gamble to try to pick at it right now.
