Found my first pistol, and it's a beauty. (resized the pic)

I spend a lot of my spare time checking lots where houses have recently been taken down here in New Orleans. I've been mainly just digging bottles and not detecting them since they tend to be so full of garbage, but that's all over now. I will never be caught in a lot without my detector again. This little gem was at one time a .32, and even though it looks rough, it's the first pistol I've ever foud and I think I'll keep it.

Very nice pistol. My very first find with a detector was a pistol. It was an 1890's S&W. I made a home electrolosys machine and it took away the rust and brought it back to the bare medal. This one would clean up nice...you should try it.

thing is, I had my buddy look at it, and he pointed out the brass still in the chambers. someone fired all five shots before they threw it under the house......kinda makes you wonder.....

I imagine so, but I think a lot of them are probably too hot to touch. ;D

Which brings the question, what do you do if you find a more recent gun, that could be stolen or used in a crime? I would think turn it in to the police?

Good question. I'd ask the police. Let us know what you find. I doubt they'll be interested, though. Cool find!

That is too awesome! :notworthy:
Congrats on such a neat find!

The closest I've found to a real pistol is part of a 1950's cap gun (below). Turns out, it was my mother's when she was a young girl and would play 'cowboys and indians' with her brothers.
