'US' Pewter Button !!

I got out for a dig with a few New Hampshire T-Net friends,
Don't it figure that the finds just weren't popping like yesterday :'(
scored a few goodies ;D
I was able to upgrade on an 1808-1830 US pewter button.
(the first I found last summer was pretty well toasted, thanks again Cru for noticing
what it was :notworthy:)
this one has fair detail but some edge loss.
Has anyone seen this type with the period at the top :help:
also got a couple other interesting 1 pieces, and an old blistered pewter.
A green copper, British half penny or Canada Cent judging by size.
A Heavy cast copper cover,
And one little old shoe buckle.
All in all, a great days digs with some new friends :hello2:

Dang Herbie, you are getting 2011 off to a great start and have already scored some great finds. That button is rare to recover in any condition. Congrats, Quindy.

Hey Herbie,

Just got home a little while ago. It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday and an honor to be able to detect with you! Congrats on your awesome finds! I was able to pick up some goodies too - a nice copper or brass bell, an 1863 IHC, and 1883 V Nickel! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Thanks again Herbie! I hat a great time!

Aw Shucks, Twarn't nothin
Was great to get out with you for a few finds, Loved that bell & it was the first Indian Ive seen like that. also the first V nickel pulled from the site.
The spot that looks like an out of place period on the US button intrigues me,
it clearly doesn't have one in the 'proper' position, and all examples I can find have a period. :icon_scratch:
Good Day & Great Digs  Herbie

Thanks Mainer!
The button face is great, the edges are expanded & really fragile,
the chips probably occurred digging it out of the rocks,
came out of that rocky beach with yellow clay beneath.
Loving yesterdays weather, 58' according to the landowner where I was digging,
back to 27' today, that's fine February weather too!
Best Digs to all
