Hi folks -- It's been a while since I've gotten out due to work and family consuming me. But alas, yesterday I managed to stop by the farm to hang some No Trespassing signs in my business suit (workplace is just next door). Couldn't resist making a few quick sweeps and in just 10 minutes about 3 inches down, this Louisiana button emerged. This is a first for me and has always been at the top of my Confederate wish list.

Glad to be back and visiting TNet again. And, wow, did I miss some beautiful finds!!

Beautiful button! Lets see it cleaned up.
The face is about as good as it's going to get and that's after two hours with a saturated toothpick, soft brush, q-tip and solution. Patina very brittle and wants to flake. Some gilt on the right wing, that's about it. Haven't cleaned the back.

I'm really happy with the button's overall definition and structure, though. Straight shank, no punches. I'll take it! ;D
