GOLD & SILVER TODAY ! GOLD COIN ? Rings 66 & 67 for the year

Wow what a hunt ! I got out with my hunting buddy Ryan to a school field I had hunting a couple of years ago . I had not found any silver or gold at that time but today was much different !!! It was a 2 hour hunt and about a 1/2 hour in I got a +80 at 3 inches . My first silver of the hunt , a small .925 ring ;D . Not more than 15 minutes and I get a +18 , +24 at 3 inches . It is GOLD :headbang: !!! At first it looks like a penny size pendent so I flip it over and it has a small gold coin mounted in it !! It is dated 1899 but it is not a real coin :'( . It is marked 835 ,witch I believe is 20 or 22K . The coin is gold but made to look like an old U.S. gold coin . So is this my first gold coin ??? ?
Next is the big .925 silver spinner ring at 2 inches ;D . This one was a screamer at +87 VDI . The finale good find was in the wood chips of the play ground , a very small 14K gold Disney pendent . :icon_thumright:
Last I also found a 1997 Canadian penny , 1986 Singapore 50 cent coin , pin , pendent and $8.75 in clad . I am ready to get out again :dinnertime: . Rings are numbers 66 & 67 .

My mother in law had a similar "gold" pendant in her jewelry box. I believe it was marked, also. First I went to the coin books, and it wasn't right. Then I did some looking on the internet and found that at one point, possibly in the 50's, a bunch of this kind of thing was made, in all different liberty head styles and with regular and weird denominations. And very few, if any, were actually gold. Made to imitate, used to deceive. I truly hope, though, that yours is gold. Perhaps the bezel part is 14kt. That is a lot closer to any gold I have ever found. Now, go forth and find some more!

Just did an acid test to the coin and the setting . They are real gold ! I only have up to 18k acid and it passed with flying colors on both . It weighs 3 grams for only the size of a penny . I think it could be 22k because it is so dark in color and heavy for it's size . :icon_thumright:

The one on the link did look close to yours. And congrats on a successful acid test. Well done. Nice chunk of change.
