"RIFLE" Button With a Bugle?

I have never really been a relic hunter but a friend of mine found a site a few hours away so it was decided that a road trip was in order. While I didn't find any coins it was fun going back into history. Especially after getting home and finding out most of the buttons had writing on the back of them. If only I knew what I found? How does a guy go about finding out what the buttons are and what era they are from? I am sure my pictures don't show enough detail for anyone to help but if anyone recognizes any of them I would sure appreciate your help. I love the rifle button but don't have a clue what it is. My other favorite is the one with the broken shank where the guy punched two holes in it so he could reuse it. That one has a small eagle on the backside with the letters reble......the rest is destroyed by his hole punch. Under that in big letters it reads STANDARD COLOUR. The smaller button has some sort of funky eagle on the front with writing on the back that I can't yet get clean enough to read.

I think your Rifleman's button is war of 1812 era or just a little later.. the navy button looks like CW era or a little earlier :icon_thumleft: nice finds for sure

I have been doing some searching trying to find out more and civilwarbuttons.com lists my first button under the Rev War/War of 1812. They call it a RF13A "regiment of rifleman" button and list one sold with plain back like mine for $100. That's my best find this year.
