Got out for a quick cellar hole hunt...

Just a pull off the side of the road cellar..

Glad i scouted it as this site will require the small coil

There were bottles right on the ground and it was very trashy.. :-\

Stayed for about 15 minutes and pulled this little drum.. ;D

Not thinking anything i was not even going to post it.. :dontknow:

Then it hit me it may be Civil war related..Cellar was probably abandoned around 1880..

Put it in the what is it forum and Breezie was on top of it right away :icon_thumleft:
Its a rare Drummer's insignia or badge..

Thanks everyone ::)

The first few months of Tnet i thought when you clicked report post..Then the finds banner link that was voting..

I did not realize you had to type in the word banner and hit report..

All those times i thought i voted banner for someone it did not... :-\

Glad i figured it out it does not give any instructions :laughing7:

If Breezie, Rob (Creskol), Cody (Kuger), or C.C. Hunter can't figure out what something is J.B., it's from outer space. That an excellent piece of CW history. Congrats and I feel this is rare enough, and now documented as authentic, to be on BANNER!! I am formally nominating it as such. I certainly had never seen anything CW drummer related dug except the buckle that held the wooden sticks. HH, Quindy.

Wow Quindy thanks man

My GW button had like 30 people say banner and it never made it :dontknow:

It would be nice to make it at least once :laughing7:

I must say if a world class Civil War hunter like yourself has
never seen one its got to be rare..
Maybe the Banner god has a heart on for me.....

Nice! I would never have attributed that to the CW. Guess that's why it pays to get a proper id on things!

Re: Cellar hole hunt gives up a Rare Civil War find!!!

Makes me wonder why none of these have ever been recovered from the Battlefields :icon_scratch:

Did the Drummers not participate in battle :dontknow:

What was the process being a Drummer in the Civil War?

I don't profess to be a CW historian or CW anything J.B. but I'd say it would be this:
1. Buy or borrow a drum.
2. Have enough guts to go out with a unit into a very hostile environment with hot frags and bullets whizzing around like bees and beat on it.
That's about it. No American Idol tryout required. Maybe BB knows as he's a pro musician. HH, Q.

Re: Cellar hole hunt gives up a Rare Civil War find!!!

Banner nomination sent. Glad you posted it here for an ID rather than letting a PRIZE find sit in a junk bin.

This is a great find, and it is just as scarce or even more so than those drumstick plates.

Cheers,

Buckles
