Headed to an old baseball field that is right near a house built in 1720. Found the 2 mercs right away into the hunt. Next was the watch fob that appears to have an elk with a design on it. Thought it was can slaw until I noticed how shiny it was at home. Any info would be great on that. Found the costume ring also, looks like it was silver plated at one point and seems to be pretty old going by the design on the sides. A lot of turn-of-the-century items here. When it was too dark too dig, we turned around and started to head back, cherry-picking along area that I know I already hit but what the heck maybe I missed something else. Sure enough 3 feet away I get a solid penny signal on my explorer. I pulled 6 wheaties today and a few last time I was here so I thought maybe this one would be an indian. Dug the plug, and out pops a big silver disc. It must have been on edge because half dollars on my machine knock my ears off. Turned out to be a beautiful 1936 Walker. Ended up coming home also with a 1942 P Silver War Nickel,1939 Jefferson, 3 Dateless Buffaloes one a 1919, and a Dateless V Nickel. I was hoping for a shield nickel too but hey I'm satisfied. Happy Hunting:icon_thumleft:

Nice digs! Haven't found a silver half in a number of years here. Is that gold plated brass? Might be a watch back it looks like to me. If the material is not brittle you might try using a rubber mallet to flatten it some, then post another photo. That ring is sure to be old. Looks like it had something bolted to its front maybe or glued on? I don't hunt baseball fields out here generally, have done some that aren't used anymore tho.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure it's gold plated brass as you mentioned by the condition and how smooth it is. Happy Hunting
