Finally Dad is giving me a run for my money with a Very Rare Penny of Stephen 1150-54! (this period of coin is nearly always weakly struck on an irregular flan)
We decided to do an old moated manor site & we had both agreed on where we should start, funny old thing, the first run & first dig from Dad was the top find!
I struggled with a 13th C Annular Brooch with 2 animal heads (1 I need)
Dad got the nice 18th C Buckle!
Only managed 2 hours dodging the thunder storms, very sticky day under foot.

What do you do with all your buckles? Do you display the better examples?
I do, in the local Museum.

I cant see year on coin but what do I know great job, banner!!!!
Sadly it does not qualify as a banner coin, as it was not by a member, but it was a banner find & is as valuable as my recent 'Bull'.

Thanks guys, its now recorded with the appriopriate Museum. It's important to them, our country & us that the location & details of these rare coins are kept safe for future study.
For those interested, our ID was spot on & the Museum confirmed it as Thetford Mint & Moneyer Gefrei.
