I found a Big 14k gold ring today on a quick 45 min hunt.

It was reading pulltab. This is the reason I dig everything except in the iron range.

Same thing happened to me the other day. Got a pull tab reading, almost walked away, but saw the bottom of the ring shining. Glad I decided to check, turned out to be a 14k with 6 diamonds. Nice score!

And yes, always dig everything! I usually set the detector on iron-reject, and dig all signals! It gave me my first gold this summer!

Yep dig everything.
I wasn't finding gold rings and I couldn't figure out why. Then one day I was able to test a few gold rings of my friends. I realised at that moment I must have passed up many many gold rings.
I started digging up everything. The gold rings started appearing. Since then I just turned my discrimination as low as it would go. I find small rings wayyyy below pull tabs. On my meter quarters are 573. Nickels are around 478. I'm finding gold rings as low as 230. They sound like ketchup packets. 24 gold rings this year. =)

It was about six inches down about 75 yards in front of a boat landing in a flowage reservoir that right now is about 6 feet low. In a spot that is normally under water.
