Well I had a few minutes of light left today after work, so I went to check out a potentially good site in a wooded area not too far from my house. I found this right next to where I parked, along with a lot of Iron & Clam shells; all great signs of good hunting. Needless to say I will be heading back soon. I will be sure to park in a different spot.
Nice finds, the penny looks like it is in fine shape. Must have been some sandy ground you found it in. Are you sure the round items aren't lead? They look like shot to me, maybe musket balls.

The soil is very sandy in this area. We call it sugar sand. I recenty found an 1836 cent in much better shape than the Lincoln. The Lincoln was in an area that may have been driven over and walked on for nearly 100 years. I think the round items may just be buckshot.
