My moms first hunt - she beat me

Took my mom out to show her the ropes and she ended up showing me up. She found a couple wheats, this great army insignia, and a US stamped fork. She's hooked!

Thanks for the info VPNavy, I didn't realize they were so similar. I knew when we pulled it out it was going to be something great and when we cleaned it I was surprised to see it is in perfect condition, which is amazing to me considering it's been in the ground for 70 years.

The difference is the design of the eagle (looks left). I have found that the Army and Air Force have a different (eagle) face but your find is a little to fuzzy to see the difference.

I noticed in the right talon the olive branch branch for the Army insignia turns down. The one we found comes to a point so I think it's Air Force.
