I got back out yesterday to the old rec area site where I found the old bottles. I walked the woods, I walked the fields and I swung my detector until I thought my arm was going to fall off. Those $^%$^&**&^ greenbriars got me again several times. But there is one thing in common with every farm field I have hunted here in eastern NC. Farming must be very thirsty work, because they have all been full of beer cans, screw caps and pull tabs!

I did make some good bottle finds again, along with part of a cap gun and an old ceramic fuse box. But coins totally eluded me. Either I'm still not in exactly the right area, or so much dirt has been moved around farming that they are buried deeper than my MD will reach. I tried enhanced sensitivity, but there was too much trash for this to be effective.

Thanks, Dave & Bobbie. What really surprised me is where I found the china dish on Saturday. If you look in the upper left side of the second picture you will see the stumps and trash in a large burn pile. That china dish was at the lower edge of this pile. How it got drug or dozed there without breaking is amazing.

Trash Digger,

Those coins will come. We all gotta keep working hard and the finds will come as a result. Nice bottles though. What area of Eastern NC you hunting?

I live in Nash County, but hunt anywhere. This particular site is in Nash. Took me about 6 weeks to get permission.

Try detecting for coins at the site of the burn pile. Maybe they were scraped up and deposited there? Also, do the edge of roads or driveways. People getting out to open gates or move debris will sometimes drop things. Good luck!
