1953 class ring on it's way to getting returned!!

Last week I found a 1953 class ring (10k ~ ladies ring) -- I was just about to give up on the idea of returning it to it's owner -- the school's insignia/shield/crest is missing on from the ring -- the ring's manufacturer (Herff Jones) was no help because their records don't go back to 1953. So, I did some knocking on doors in the neighborhood where the ring was found ~ I got to talking to an old lady that's lived in her house since 1955. I showed her where I found the ring ~ she said she knows the family that lived in the house that was close to where the ring was found and she's still in contact with them. So she gave me their phone number ~ I immediately called the lady and she knows who's ring it is!! It's her sister's ring!! She graduated from University High School in 1953 and her initials are S J M, the same as what's engraved in the band!!!

The sister is "sun birding" in Arizona right now ~ she's coming back to Oregon in April, so hopefully I'll get to meet her soon after her return to Oregon and give her her ring back!

One more thing! The old lady that gave me the tip on who to talk to about the ring gave me permission to hunt the grounds around her house! The house was built in 1915 ~ She's lived in the house since 1955!

I think the return of this ring would make a great human interest story on your local news channel. I know I would drive the 100 miles to come witness the return!

A great find with a happy ending. Can you just imagine someone returning a lost item to you after that many years? Very cool. Looking forward to hearing more.
