I spent a few hourS hunting in a field behind a church and ended up finding a good number of modern coins (nothing special with taking a picture of) but i also found what looks like Boy Scout tie clips, not quite sure if they are worth anything or not.

I also ended up finding a hunk of rusted iron and decided for the heck of it to take it homes once I could make out writing on it. I got some of the rust of and it looks like it says "PAT FEB 1876"... Any have an idea of what this might be or what it could be worth?

Congrats on the hunt, I've only found one Boy Scout tie clip so far.
The AT Pro is an amazing machine! Listen to her and she will sing to you lol

Nice collection of scarf slides!! The one on the top left looks like has some age to it. They obviously held Boy Scout meetings in the church. I have no idea what the iron piece is. I have tried to do research on an item just using the Patent date, but was unsuccessful.

Being broken, it most likely isn't worth much. Still a neat old find and that top left clip looks pretty old, I would try to find a local scout troop and see if they might know how old it is

Back in the day when foundries and manufacturers came up with new ideas they were quick to patent them. Didn't matter how minor the product was, it was a means of survival during the Depression era so someone else didn't steal your idea. That piece you found may have had a short life in its current form before it was modified and/or eliminated by something better.

Electrolysis is a relatively simple & cheap system to set up. I recommend using that to clean it, you'll get more detail off it.

I have found a few of the boyscout sliders also. I checked ebay and you can find them on there. Some are worth more than others. I gave mine to a co-worker who's son is in the boyscouts. They where boy grateful and loved them.
