Too many people out on beaches today so I decided to head for the hills, to a spot where I previouslyfound a musketball and some clad from hikers.
This large cent about knocked my socks off..1820. My oldest coin for sure by about 70 years.
Not far away this piece of metal showed up, too. Not magnetic, and broken off of something. Pretty sure its colonial.
Enjoy

Man that coin is clean! We call those swamp dollars down here, most of the time they are eat up so bad you can barely tell what they are!

Thanks all. It was about 4" down in upland soil. I have hit this spot about 3 times before. This time I pulled up a couple nickels, a dime, a few pennies, one 1957 wheat, and many 22 cal shells (so annoying).

I had the Cibola turned down to or past iron. Not sure if that helped or not. 1820 is going to be a hard date for me to beat.
