Yay! First Crotal Bell and Interesting Button find

Took advantage of the mild January day to roam the woods by the creek which is a favorite
spot close to home and near where a pre-revolutionary inn once stood.
My first good find was this 2-piece button, which has an eagle, anchor and 13 stars.
Is it early Navy? I can't make out the backmark, except maybe the letters "van" and "Co".

The second find was this excellent crotal bell- which has been on my finds bucket list from
the start and is my first. On one side of the slit are the letters "OHO" and "OBO" on the
other side of the slit.

It was fun getting out for a while. Sure beats the "polar vortex" eh!

Nice find on the bell. The button is a US Marine button dating to the 1900s

Yes the bell is in great shape- still has the ringer ball, though it sounds more like a rattle than a bell.

Thanks for the comments. upon further checking the Marine button is Civil War- The "van & co" I thought I saw on the back is actually
"man & co" as in Freeman & Co and is identical to US Marine Civil War buttons I was able to see photos of. Also the diameter measures 22 mm which (according to CannonballGuy in a previous post) is in line with pre- 1866 buttons .

The button looked really low convex, if it is Freeman then it is a good button. I was initially thinking Hortsman. Congrats on a good find.
