Went out this afternoon, on a field that is more pebbles than soil. The combination of pebbles and plough is lethal for fragile hammered silver coins. Also had two Medieval buckle pins, and a very small Medieval pendant. Usually four hammered in one session is cause for celebration.

Yes a 4 hammered day is one to remember, looks like you need to spend more time in that field.

Most of the fields in the Yorkshire Wolds are just like that, destroys just about any coin, but I got my Edgar penny there...good going anyway Rob.:icon_thumright:

Cheers Colin, don't think I've seen the Edgar, please post.
:icon_thumright:

It got battered by the stones on the edges, I'm surprised it survived at all.

True many will be damaged, but some will have escaped. That's a nice total for one hunt. The more you dig, the more likely you are to find one that isn't broken.

Well done, my friend.

Best Wishes,

Buck
