I found this at a restaurant parking lot and couldn't find any marks on it and haven't tested it yet.

YES SIR!! Eyes to the ground often pays off!! I found a run over 14K hoop earring in Jan at the edge of a melting plowed snow pile at a little strip mall. Mine was marked, and I think though that if yours isn't it is probably not sterling or gold, but as the others say, get it tested to be sure.
