What's this thing?





Alloy hinge, of some kind? Found under this tree. Found today in an old park yard where the baseball diamond is mostly faded and maybe used to be a school there. The landscaping is a series of peculiar afterthoughts. This hinge just guessing looks like it's from the 40's or so. Not sure.

I am really striking out for finds. I was at another park earlier, in the city I tend to find the coins 3-5 inches down might be from the 60's, or they might be 2011 like the dime I found today. I need to find coin bedrock, where there are older things. Drat.

My first thought although morbid and I do hope it isn't this but maybe a handle for a coffin that the pallbearers carry it from.

Lol it does kind of swing the way it would for a coffin or chest it would seem pretty heavy duty. It is kind of ornate. That would be pretty interesting if there actually was an old cemetery there.

Hinge, it has screw holes on both pieces. For something heavy by the look if it!
Don't mess with that tree, looks like it could get up and run!
