Hello all! I headed back to my hometown this weekend to visit my Mom & do some relic hunting. My first stop was the Rev War General's home site where we found the firepits from the encampment on the property. (2 USA buttons & 7 howitzer shells have been found here so far). I found was sling swivel off of a musket about 3 feet from one of the pits. It's really an awesome find for me, to think that the soldier who lost that went on to fight at Camden after this encampment & very possibly gave his life fighting for our freedom. I also found what I'm told is a pewter children's toy from a dollhouse & a whiffle tree tip. It's hard hunting in these woods now with all the overgrowth.

Sunday I went to a colonial homesite of a Rev War captain (also fought at Camden). I've pounded this site but I still manage to pull a few goodies when I go, it's also my go to spot for arrowhead hunting. I found a beautiful colonial cuff link, a musket ball & some other misc items. Any idea on the pewter item or square stone? (Not metallic). I also found a nice assortment of Native American artifacts. I'm not sure what the large piece is, any insight would be great. It was a great weekend to get out & save some history! Thanks for looking & HH!!!

Indeed, I'm thinking late 1890s, this is from a 1895 Sears catalog & a pretty exact match (I've found one before). Mine was silver plated at one time as well. It seems a lot of people mis IDed them as flag pole toppers in the past...

The pivoted horizontal crossbar to which the harness traces of a draft animal are attached and which is in turn attached to a vehicle or an implement. Also called singletree, singletree, also called regionally whippletree.

I'm not sure if its pewter but it looks like it. The cup is actually a miniature that would be in a doll house (I should've added a size reference)

Thanks Mag. I'm with you now. I have a few singletrees out in the shop. I'll have to check it out.
