It's not platinum or you would have remarked on its fantastic density. I suggest it's silicide (or even elemental silicon). At any rate it's probably highly chemically reduced. What's the nearest town where you found it?

The first time I see something I think I know I can remember the name. I am pretty sure it is a mineral that has a very high lead content. The outside looks all dull and ugly but the inside is like yours and beautiful. But I am only about 62% positive on that. The shape that it is and the fact that it looks to not have any cleavage that is common on the mineral I am thinking of... Hopefully you found something very nice :)
