I started the day checking out some parks in a nearby town with nothing promising showing up. Frustrated, I drove around town looking for another spot. I found a high school built in 1922 so I pulled on in. After digging a handful of clad, I pulled out my first and only silver of the day. I left the dirt on it till I got home, but could tell it was in rough condition. After a rinse I discovered that I had found my first standing liberty quarter. I was a hootin and a hollerin. As some of the excitement mellowed down, I decided to try to see if I could make out any of the date. At just the right angle I can make out the six as the last digit. So I looked it up to see how many possible dates it could be. The first one I check is the 1916 and discover that date has another telling feature that separates it from the others. It's the only date where there are no stars beneath the eagle on the back. I flipped over my coin and behold! No stars! So this coin is my first SLQ and first key date to boot! Thanks for looking!
