A couple of days ago I posted my nearly one ounce "gold" necklace, marked 14k, that tested to be junk. There were a few questions about how I tested that necklace so I photoed my latest find as I tested it on my Mizar. I pulled this jumbo earring out of the water this morning, but it was so large and heavy I didn't think it could be real, and I couldn't read the marks on it. It comes in at 3.7 grams which is heavier than a lot of womens ring's, and as you can see, tested as real 14k.

I told you you'd get the real deal before too long after that disappointment with the bogus chain - nice find !

Congrats of the Gold find. I do however have a couple of questions... where would a guy find a gold tester like the one in the picture and what kind of price range would I be looking at? Thanks and congrats again...

Great Find, Congrats on the gold! :headbang:

That's so big, that it must have been pretty uncomfortable to wear for a long day!

You can buy it through Amazon - $88. Kind if expensive but it is so easy to use and very accurate.

You could probably buy that brand of that Gold Tester on Ebay, or other online jewelry stores. I see them going anywhere $80-$120. The tester that SusanMN used is called, Gold Tester Electronic ET-18 Mizar. Mizar ET-18 Electronic Gold Tester

Keep in mind some of the Gold Testers on Ebay are cheap, but used, but if you want to buy a new one, you would have to pay a bit more money for it.

For a bit less money you could always buy gold testing acid online.
