Hello all,

Just got back from a twelve day Washington trip with my wife. I was able to squeeze in some metal detecting. This will be a multi-post thread to make the picture uploading easier and more efficient.

So first place I detected was Placerville, CA-and I got skunked on my quick hunt.

Money/best finds:
(1) junk ring
(5) pennies $0.05
*(1) 1954D Wheat

Total: $0.05

2014 running total: $27.40

So on the way into Washington my wife and I stopped to use the rest room and buy some water at a gas station. I paid $2.50 cash for two bottles and received two quarters as change. As the cashier put them into my hand they clanked together and I thought in my head, "that sounds different then usual clad quarters!". As we were walking out I checked the date and the side rim just to make sure. Yep! Silver 1960 quarter! I proceeded to whisper to my wife, "...they just gave me a silver quarter in my change...i got the water for free!". My wife told me later laughing that I acted like they were gonna take it back, lmao! So here's the quarter I didn't even have to dig for. I took this as a sign of good luck entering into WA.

We made it into Washington to see my wife's aunt and uncle. In the evening I metal detected with my wife's uncle. I had brought up both of my detectors so her uncle could try it out. We tried behind his house where there use to be a large cattle farm. We got skunked on our quick hunt.

So with the height of two silver rings, it was time to leave the aunt and uncle's. On the return trip home we stayed in Aberdeen, WA. In the morning of departure I tried detecting by the river. It was all mud not sand and I was able to recover a railroad spike before the mud sucked my shoe off and my sock covered foot went into the muck.

Later on the return trip I spotted a chimney on the side of the 101S and tried detecting around it, skunked!

Things:
(1) railroad spike

That was the end of the trip but I am extremely happy to have found the two silver rings (a double first) and the nice costume jewelry rings along with the silver quarter I didn't even have to get dirty for.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys! Yeah finding a silver ring was on my bucket list n it took long enough. Funny when I find one I get two! I post the junk too that way people new to metal detecting get a true sense of the hobby. It's not all fabulous finds, but it makes the great stuff even greater.
