First year it was established was 1878 so you might have a first addition, hopefully

The date of 1878, as has been mentioned, reflects probably only the year the university was established.
It actually began operations two years later and today, as MSU, is the largest university in the state.
Great historic find !

Yeah, all search engines and camera identifiers havnt found a match- and I'm doubtful fob is 136 yrs old - more than likely just ad stating establishment year- but till I find out it doesn't hurt to keep my hopes up - after all it was 7 inches deep in hard packed dirt- found with my DFX at around 8pm last night

dfx-kevin since the seal says "Mississippi State College" the watch fob is likely before 1958. also, the seal says "Industry, Education, Discipline" which probably dates it to the early 30's or 40's. MSU changed from MS A&M to Mississippi State College in the early 30's. I recently purchased a pennant with Mississippi State College and "Research, Learning, Industry" on the seal. Yours is probably earlier than this.

Watch fobs are always cool finds. One with a date on it is even better. Nice find!
