I hit a beach on Saturday, and a different one Sunday, and I was amazed at the finds. Saturday, I decided to check all of the parking islands because not many people would detect there. My first good find was my first silver necklace. After finding nothing but pulltabs after that, I went to another small nearby island. I dug about 5 clad coins, then I hit on a 1958 d Jefferson nickel. Not the best find, but it gave me the motivation to keep going. The next signal I dug down in the sand with my scoop, and at the bottom of the scoop, i was shocked to see my first ever buffalo nickel! It is a 1915 in great shape! The date is almost worn off but after a long time of studying it, I determined its definitely 1915. My next signal was a 1940 KG Canadian penny. After digging 7 wheats, the oldest 2 being 1926 and 1937, I had a good 83 signal on my AT Pro and out pops a 1947 D roosevelt dime at 6 inches. I had to leave after that because the beach was closing, but I only searched about a third of the area where I dug all the old coins. I will get back there as soon as I can to find the rest. If that area of the beach was never searched, I can't even imagine all the old coins that were there before metal detectors. Every day, the beach is hunted by a ton of detectorists, so I really lucked out with all those coins. On Sunday I visited another beach and had one good find, a possible gold necklace piece or earring. It reads Victoria Empress on it and weighs about a gram. It rang up as a 50-51 on my AT Pro. If anyone could help my ID that I would appreciate it. All together I had a great weekend with a couple of firsts, and never expected to find what I did. Thanks for looking and HH!
