Hunting a encampment today..That is known as WHITEMARSH encampment. .
Did not have much time but I did manage to pull out a few keepers coins and what I believe to be a butt end of a brown bess??
If anyone can confirm this that would be great...It was every bit of 11inch down.
At first I thought it was a crotel bell..
Even better...lol
Thanks for looking
George

I agree it looks like a butt plate, but it doesn't look military. A brown bess butt plate is generally flat brass on the overstock arm. If it is decorated at all, it is generally engraved.

I get a sense that this is pre-revolutionary.

Cool looking, from a hunters eye, it looks like it would hurt my shoulder, kind of bulges out when it looks like it should curve in? Hard to tell from those pix. I'm stuck in my recliner, maybe later I'll make it to my pc to look at" Brown bessy" I like your coins, pretty lady's!

Ya know, I'd never thought about parts of a gun before. Maybe that's what this piece was too? :dontknow:

That's to a window.

It's definitely not from a Brown Bess, but it does looks quite early. I've never seen another exactly like it, but it appears to be off of an early (mid 18th century) fowler, Nice find!
