Bear with me, it is a longer story. I came home from school for a couple days and of course hit my neighbors yard with my detector as I did all summer. I decided to focus on the backyard where I haven't hunted as much and found multiple junk targets as well as my first buffalo nickel. I couldn't see the date it is soaking right now. I got a pretty decent size hit on my AT Pro and started digging. About 6inches down I exposed part of a bottle which I thought was intact so I made the hole bigger to get to it. As I am doing this the OTHER neighbor ,who's front yard is next to my neighbors backyard where I always hunt, comes out and makes one of her smart remarks. She always has these sarcastic undertones when she asks me what I'm doing when I'm metal detecting. I honestly just think she doesn't like to see anyone else enjoying themselves. She acts real nice to my face, but she has made remarks to other people about me digging up my other neighbors yard (WHERE I HAVE FREE REIGN TO DO WHATEVER and I always always fill and water my holes after digging). Haha anyways, after finding the first bottle and a bunch of glass I decide this is a trash pit or privy and deserves further inspection. I text my neighbor and make sure I have permission to continue with a wider hole and she says that's fine "have at it". I dug a decent size hole, but it was only about 2 ft deep before I filled it in because of the rain. I hope to one day dig the whole thing because it is LOADED. I kept the Carter's ink bottle and gave her the rest of them for her mantle as a thank you for letting me always dig in her yard. After the rain stopped I headed back out and found three wheats (16d, 30, 40) and a costume jewelry locket. I was working an area where my b***chy neighbor says her daughter lost a gold ring years ago. She told me this months ago, but I never found it. Well today I found it and man was it a cool feeling to see a gold ring in the hole. It's 14k with a birthstone. I took it home and cleaned it up to take pictures for you guys with plans of returning it. I have to be honest, it crossed my mind not to give it back just because I dislike her so much haha but I'm not like that. So I headed over to her house, knocked on the door and said jokingly "here now you can't give me grief about metal detecting". She's said oh my God that's it! I can't believe you found it! Then she said, I don't give you grief about detecting! I'm just curious! (You don't know her like I do she's full of crap) Anyways it was a good day detecting and treasure hunting. The funny thing is, I was reading my colleges newspaper and glanced at my horoscope for Friday and part of it said "the next two days are good for treasure hunting..." Which I thought was weird and even though I don't take those things seriously I figured it couldn't hurt my chances of finding some cool things! Thanks for looking! Ps I don't know what the thing is in the last photo.

To hell with the coins, loving the bottles! I am sure your aware that the date on the bottom of the carters is just the patent date. Are my eyes fooling me or does your other bottle say sperm on it? About time we're seeing bottles on "Today's Finds"..awesome stuff.

May I say it again, I love that late 1800's Sperm sewing machine oil..lol
haha thanks I was going to keep that one too, but decided to be nice and give it to her since her yard has given me 1 walking half, 1 silver Washington, 2 mercs, a couple of religious jewelry pieces, 2 Indian heads, 15 wheats, a large cent, multiple tokens, and a buffalo nickel haha I really want to see what other bottles are there. There was a lot of broken pots and nicer dishes. Next time I have two days off in a row I may tackle it.

excellent finds. good for you being the bigger person and returning the ring. I have to admit, I'd have probably thought twice about it myself.

Love the bottles too! Much more character than the machine crap of today. Good deed with the ring as well, I would have thought long and hard before showing it to her too.
